Enjoy Italy with oars!
Procida with its 3.7 square kilometers is the smallest of the Phlegraean islands. It rises at the mouth of the Gulf of Naples, between nearby Ischia and the mainland of Capo Miseno.
The first thing that strikes you about Procida coming from the sea are the colors of its houses, pastel colors highlighted by the blue of the sea. Being far from the lights of worldliness like the nearby Ischia and Capri have made it an ideal destination for writers and artists. In fact, in Procida, Elsa Morante sets one of her best-known novels "The Island of Arthur" and it is still in Procida, that Massimo Troisi, decided to shoot some scenes of his latest masterpiece "Il Postino".

The Museum, which is inside the spanish castle, holds ancient findings from the area known as "Flegrei" fields. The "Piscina Mirabilis" is the biggest water cistern known today from the Roman period. It has been entirely dug out of tufa, was 15 metres deep and could contain about 12.000 metres squared of water. It was built to furnish water to the Roman Empire fleet.
The tomb of Agrippina, who was Nerone's mother, lies near the sea. It was actually a covered theatre from the Imperial Era, and was part of an ancient villa, destroyed by now. However, according to the tradition, it is still believed to be Agrippina's tomb. 2.00 PM Lunch.
